Ireland - A Country Simply Packed with Great Camping Spots< back
Ireland is famed for many things, from its fantastic nightlife to its wealth of picturesque locations, however, what’s perhaps not quite as widely known is just how many great camping spots it has. There are so many people in Ireland that are mad about campervans and the freedom that they offer and those who own one have plenty of great spots to visit.
As well as spending our time offering comprehensive, affordable campervan insurance, we like to create articles like this one to educate the uninitiated about the joys of campervan life. Here we take a look at just a few of the fantastic spots you can take your campervan without leaving the shores of our lovely island.
Clifden Eco Beach Camping & Caravanning Park, Co Galway
The first camping spot on our list is located in County Galway and its notable for being Ireland’s very first climate-neutral campsite. Found just 10 minutes away from Clifden, it’s a site you can take your campervan to and enjoy sand dunes and machair grass. And whilst barbecues might be prohibited on the campsite, a campfire on the white-sand beach is just a short distance away.
A beautiful location and affordable too, with pitches for two from just €19.
The Apple Farm, Co Tipperary
We head inland now to Country Tipperary to a campsite that’s set in a working orchard near Cahir. This is a small, but simply charming caravan park with campervan spots sitting amongst the neatly-trimmed apple trees. Cooking is possible in a large converted apple store and there’s lots of locally-produced fare for sale. You even get access to solar-powered hot showers and a free tennis court!
For caravans, tents and campervans, it’s easy on the pocket at €7 per night for adults & €4.50 per night for the under-12s.
Nore Valley Camping and Caravan Park, Co Kilkenny
Finally, we go east to County Kilkenny and Nore Vally Camping and Caravan Park. This is a great location for kids to enjoy with a petting zoo, crazy golf and hay bounces on offer. There’s lots more right on your doorstep too, like river pool swimming in Thomastown and pedal-powered go-karts. All this and it costs next to nothing to stay there.
Campervan pitches cost just €11-€12 per night!
So, there you have it. This has been just a small selection of the great campervan spots you can visit any time the mood takes you. All you need to do is take your campervan out and enjoy these fantastic low-cost locations.
